Skillworks Receives NBTE Accreditation
NBTE accredited tech school Port Harcourt
The accreditation was conveyed under reference TEB/VTSD/NSQF/STC/542/VOL.I/2059, dated 13 August 2026, and follows a Board verification exercise conducted at our campus at 16 Isiokpo Street, D-Line, in April 2026 by a team led by Cyril C. Mbong, the Board’s South-South Zonal Director.
Skillworks now appears on the Board’s national register with the status Institution Accredited.
Accredited trades
The accreditation covers three trades:
- Social Media Communications — delivered through our Digital Marketing programme
- Creative Media (Digital Media Production) — delivered through our UI/UX Product Design programme
- Networking and System Security Installation — delivered through our Cybersecurity programme
These represent the technology-related trades currently available for accreditation under the scheme. Skillworks holds accreditation in each of them.
Certification
Under the framework, trainees on accredited programmes are assessed by a sectoral awarding body, and certificates are issued by the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) on that body’s recommendation.
NABTEB is Nigeria’s federal examinations board for technical and business education, established in 1992 to assume the examining functions previously held in Nigeria by City and Guilds of London and the Royal Society of Arts.
Graduates of our accredited programmes therefore receive a nationally issued credential, assessed externally and verifiable by any employer in Nigeria. Because it is government-issued, it may also be submitted for equivalency evaluation by international assessment bodies.
Our AI and Machine Learning, Full Stack Web Development and Data Analytics programmes are not among the accredited trades and continue to carry the Skillworks certificate.

I have argued for a decade that this region has never had a talent shortage, it has had a training shortage, and that the two are indistinguishable from an employer’s desk. Accreditation is what finally separates them. A NABTEB certificate does not make our graduates capable. It makes their capability checkable by someone who has never met them, and that has been the missing piece all along.

For prospective students
Applications for the accredited programmes are open. Corps members serving in Port Harcourt can train under our NYSC SAED partnership across five local government areas.
For employers
Graduates of accredited programmes hold qualifications assessed externally and certified by a federal examinations board, which removes the need for employers to design their own competence tests.
Skillworks places graduates with firms across Rivers State at no cost to the employer.
Verification
Our accreditation status is published on the National Board for Technical Education’s register. The accreditation letter is displayed in our reception and a copy is available on request.
