Skillworks Service International Limited is accredited by the National Board for Technical Education as a Skill Training Centre, reference TEB/VTSD/NSQF/STC/542/VOL.I/2059. You can verify that yourself on NBTE’s portal in under a minute, which is more than most academies in Nigeria can offer you.

These are the technology-related trades currently available for accreditation under the scheme. Skillworks holds accreditation in each of them. They are the one currently available for accreditation.

What we are not accredited for

Our AI and Machine Learning, Full Stack Web Development and Data Analytics programmes are not covered by this accreditation. Students on those tracks receive a Skillworks certificate as NBTE does not currently have that in the record.

We put that on this page rather than in the small print. You are about to spend money and you should know exactly what you are buying. An academy that lets an accreditation blur across its entire catalogue is telling you something about how it will treat you later.

What changes for our students

On accredited programmes, we do not assess our own graduates.

An external sectoral awarding body carries out the assessment. The certificate is then issued by the National Business and Technical Examinations Board, the federal examinations board established in 1992 to take over the technical and business examinations previously conducted in Nigeria by City and Guilds of London and the Royal Society of Arts.

That means your certificate can be checked by an employer who has never heard of us, in a city you have never visited. A certificate we print ourselves is worth whatever our name is worth. A certificate NABTEB issues is worth the same thing everywhere.

Because it is government-issued rather than privately issued, it can also be submitted for equivalency evaluation abroad through bodies such as UK ENIC. That is not automatic international recognition, and you should be sceptical of anyone who tells you it is. It means you hold a credential worth submitting.

How the accreditation was granted

Accreditation under this framework follows inspection, not application.

In April 2026 a team from the Board, led by Cyril C. Mbong, its South-South Zonal Director, spent two days at 16 Isiokpo Street. They examined the laboratories and the equipment in them, checked instructor qualifications against the courses those instructors teach, and reviewed our classrooms, internal processes and policy documents.

Meeting the standard meant retraining staff and equipping rooms to a specification someone else would verify. It also meant finding gaps in our own operation and closing them.

An accreditation that is easy to obtain tells you nothing. This one was not.

Also NYSC- SAED approved

NYSC SAED partnership. Approved by NYSC Rivers State to deliver post-camp technology training for corps members across Port Harcourt I and II, Obio-Akpor, Eleme and Ikwerre. Corps members receive the SAED certificate alongside their professional certificate. [See the corps member page]

For employers

When you interview a graduate of an accredited programme, the qualification on their CV was assessed by an external body and certified by a federal examinations board. You do not need to design your own competence test to find out whether it means anything.

We place graduates with firms across Rivers State at no cost to the employer.

How do I verify it myself? Go to digitalnbte.nbte.gov.ng, open the Verify Letter tool, and enter the reference above. Search under the full legal name, Skillworks Service International Limited.

Which programmes are accredited? Digital Marketing, UI/UX Product Design and Cybersecurity, through the three approved trades. AI and Machine Learning, Full Stack Web Development and Data Analytics are not accredited and carry a Skillworks certificate.

Who issues the certificate? On accredited programmes, NABTEB, following assessment by a sectoral awarding body. Not Skillworks.

What is NABTEB? Nigeria’s federal examinations board for technical and business education, established in 1992 to assume the examining functions previously held in Nigeria by City and Guilds of London and the Royal Society of Arts.

Is a NABTEB certificate recognised outside Nigeria? It is a Nigerian national credential. Being government-issued, it can be submitted for equivalency evaluation by international bodies such as UK ENIC. Assessment is case by case and recognition is not automatic.
